At the end of “The History of Goth”, John Robb writes “The future of rock is female” says Malt, singer and guitarist for Wytch Pycknyck… “and I think he maybe right, but you don’t want to read that when you’re four dudes sitting in a Hastings practice room.”

Wytch Pycknyck started as the brainchild of old childhood buddies Malt Jones and Bonj, and they were quick off the blocks, playing dates in the UK and Festivals in Europe. After some lock down separations they were re-born with drummer Sam Davies and guitarist/synth guru Ewan Fitzgerald who was needing a new home after the demise of his former band Butane Regulators.

They are not one of those bands you see playing a lot of local gigs, but every now and again big day glo posters of snakes and demons and skulls will appear around town resulting in packed to the rafters shows, blending 70’s / 90’s guitars into a fierce lo-fi stoner, psychedelic, garage rock brawl.

“Seething guitar filth with the crank of the desert rock scene”

“Stoner rock for speed heads”

Property Of The Lost saw one of these shows as part of the infamous Hastings Fat Tuesday festival.. They lifted the crowd off on a 20 minute juggernaut journey of Motorhead meets Butthole Surfers. No wasted spaces, they came, they conquered, they left. .

“Columbo No. 5”, recorded at the historic Tunbridge Wells Forum, is a kinetic 2 and a half minutes of classic Pixies, Sonic Youth with an ACDC stomp….. go play it HERE.
