HANS DEVILLE. A POTTED HISTORY
Guitarist and producer HANS DEVILLE splits his life between the coastal town of Hastings and London. He cut his rock’n’roll teeth with highly respected ska-punks KING PRAWN. It won’t be an uncommon story with the 2020 pandemic seeing a lot of artists setting up their own studios and making musical collaborations remotely. In Hans’ case his stained glass workshop became the work place in making for a new musical journey.
A hybrid album of mariachi, sea shanty and twangy western began to develop. Half instrumental, half in collaboration with dark country singer Andrew J Davies. Live brass was recorded by his ska punk buddies, even his mum lending an accordion playing hand on first single Porbandar.
The album “Prophecies Of The Lost” was released July 2021, a sold out show at London’s Paper Dress Vintage in December 2021 cemented Hans Deville as a full live band operation.
A new album is planned for 2025 featuring special guest vocalists and other musicians but largely cemented around his touring band of Mark J Lee (bass) and Andrew Francis (guitar, harmonica, keys) both from Hastings country band The Longshore Drifters, former Peter & The Test Tube Babies and present Frank From Blue Velvet drummer, Ogs and long time friend and Motorcycle Display Team frontman, Stevoknievo taking stage pole position.
A few precursor singles are have already landed. A lounge/twang retake on King Prawn song “A Solemn Man” featuring East London Jazz singer Aisha Khan and big spaghetti western styled “The Day After” featuring Chilean alt-shoe gaze artist Naomi In Blue.
