This short but bitter sweet all vocal version of “Pray For Me” is the perfect introduction to Hastings FRANK FROM BLUE VELVET’s corrupted world. Singer Andrew J Davies craves forgiveness for his devilish past before landing the punchline “…but when the money comes in I’ll do it all again.” this band have a macabre humour running through their veins.
A stylistically unique band merging big film scores, jangling guitar riffs and dancing swing beats that paint vivid pictures of corruption, redemption, gambling and snake preaching. The band play both acoustically and amped up often against film collage projections.
“Pray For Me” is released 25th August through Property Of The Lost with a “Sins Without Redemption” 4 track vinyl due to drop in October.
The group consists of Ogs (from legendary punk band Peter and The Test Tube Babies) on drums/cajon. Andy Francis (from local favourites Cheap Dates) on guitar/melodica. Andrew Davies supplying vocals /guitar plus Bev Francis, Karen Davies and Steph Funnell on backing vocals and percussion.
LYRICS
I’m gonna tell you my tale
Hear my words, hear them, hear my words About a man off the rails
Hear my words, hear them, hear my words And what it cost
Hear my words, hear them, hear my words And the people that I’ve lost
Hear my words, hear them, hear my words Sunk lower than the belly of a rattlesnake Hear my words, hear them, hear my word
You want to know some more
Bad luck blues, singin bad luck, bad luck blues This life left me poor
Bad luck blues, singin bad luck, bad luck blues And sometimes I stole
Bad luck blues, singin bad luck, bad luck blues So many people that I owe
Bad luck blues, singin bad luck, bad luck blues When the devil sings his song then I run along Bad luck blues, singin bad luck, bad luck blue
So that’s why I pray
Pray for me, pray for, pray for me Each and every day
Pray for me, pray for, pray for me With car crash nights
Pray for me, pray for, pray for me And those drunken fights
Pray for me, pray for, pray for me
But when the money comes in I’ll do it all again Pray for me, pray for, pray for me
