HANS DEVILLE teams up with Aisha Khan for “A Solemn Man”

Released through Property of the Lost 25th September 2024

The dark twanger, Hans Deville, returns after 2022’s “Prophecies Revisited” EP with the colossal Bond-esque “A Solemn Man” featuring North London’s big band jazz singer and promoter Aisha Khan.

It’s a reimagining of Han’s other band KING PRAWN’s most recent album closer “A Solemn Man”, a story of whistle blowing, speaking truth to power and breaking the line at great personal risk.

This is the first taste of Hans Deville’s second album due out next year. It features his rag tag posse of musicians that form the core of his live band. Ex Peter & The Test Tube Babies and current Frank From Blue Velvet drummer Mark Starr-Hoggins and the Longshore Drifters frontman, Mark J Lee on bass.

Aisha Khan, a stalwart of London’s rock+roll, and jive jazz scene, and thrower of the extraordinary MaltShake parties in Bermondsey’s RopeWalk district, turns in a sultry blues vocal, think smokey rooms + chandeliers + dinner jackets + fine whiskey. Sitting easy on the psychedelic twang back drop, it’s The Byrds “Rodeo” era meeting The Propellor Heads “History Returning” concluding in a three horn crescendo mariachi salute.

This will be released as part of Property of the Lost’s “Bendy” disc series. With new instrumental “The Day After” on the flip.

Hans returns with his band on 10th November at The Jenny Lind Hastings.
